The Final Push at COTA As the Formula 1 circus descends on Austin for the United States Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari has confirmed it will debut its most significant technical update of the autumn stretch. The Italian outfit is introducing a redesigned floor and revised sidepods for the SF-26, marking the fourth and final major development package of the 2026 campaign. With the team currently sitting second in the Constructors' Championship on 378 points, the goal is to narrow the 160-point deficit to a dominant Mercedes and secure their standing ahead of a late-season charge from Red Bull.

Technical Overhaul and Driver Expectations

The new aerodynamic components are specifically engineered to address the SF-26's inconsistent performance in high-speed corners. The floor update aims to widen the car's operating window, allowing engineers to run less extreme suspension setups—a recurring struggle for both Charles Leclerc and **Lewis Hamilton this season. While the front wing remains unchanged, the bodywork revisions are intended to reduce drag and improve straight-line speed, which has been a primary concern at recent rounds in Baku and Singapore.

Vasseur and Leclerc Focus on 2027

Foundation Team Principal Fred Vasseur has faced increasing pressure from Piero Ferrari to ensure the team's technical direction is sound heading into the 2027 regulation cycle. Despite securing two victories earlier this year at Barcelona and Silverstone, the team has lacked the ultimate race-winning pace to challenge for the title. Charles Leclerc, coming off a strong P2 finish in Singapore, remains cautiously optimistic about the impact of the new parts. "We’ve got a few things coming for Austin. While they might not revolutionize our pace overnight, these are the steps we need to ensure we finish the 2026 season on a high and build the right foundation for next year," said Charles Leclerc during a recent technical briefing.
